Well it's not too late yet for a healthy New Year resolution. After a considerable calorie intake over Christmas, you may want to strip those extra kilos of fat off your body. Beijingers are flexing their muscles and setting their fitness goals for 2014. Martina Fuchs hits the gyms in the Chinese capital to feel the pulse of bodybuilders and sports enthusiasts.

Work it out!

At the Human In Motion fitness studio in Beijing, sweat is your currency. Ultimate fitness is your aim.

Professional trainers here sculpt male and female physiques, help with weight loss, strengthening, or sports-specific conditioning.

What are the golden tips for the new year?

"The first thing that I would recommend when you start 2014 is to set your pace. Don’t try to get it all done in the first month. The biggest problem is you have all this energy, you are so enthusiastic, you want to get in shape but then in April you start to phasing out and by November you are doing exactly what you were doing in 2013. So pace yourself, you have something to work for, you’re doing it on a regular basis which you can sustain for the rest of the year." Ruben Payan, Owner & CEO of Human In Motion, said.

You don’t have to look like a beefcake. Achieving results with long-lasting effect is probably the main challenge.

"Tip number two is extremely important. You might even look at this. You have to schedule it. How important is that. If it’s not on the schedule for people who are professionals like yourself that are travelling, guess what. Phone call, kills it. You have to put it away. So you have to make sure if you put it on your schedule, it happens." Payan said.

Ruben showed no mercy. To earn results, one has to suffer.
