Nankai University has opened a whole new chapter when it comes to accommodating married students.

The university said the campus is offering dorms for couples to students who are married as long as both of the couples are registered resident students.

The students need to provide their campus ID and marriage certificate to apply for the dormitories, according to a message posted and promoted on the university's official Sina Weibo account, reported Xinhua Agency on Thursday.

It is still not common for a university to have dorms for couples though Nankai Univerisity is not the first to offer such a service.

Staff from Nankai University's publicity department said the dorms for couples have been available since the 1990s, and currently 18 student married couples have checked in.

The annual accomodation fee for the dorm is 2,400 yuan ($343).
