Forty students from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the Chinese mainland will get training in innovation and entrepreneurship at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), thanks to a new training campus at the university.

The campus held its opening ceremony on the same day the UIBE-Bauhinia Valley Innovation and Development Center was unveiled on May 6.

More than 20 university professors and alumni were appointed as tutors to train students at the campus.

The tutors are said to help students choose partners to organize an entrepreneurial team, design products, marketing strategies and project financing through simulated entrepreneurial practices.

"Nowadays globalization and artificial intelligence are the two trends in world economic, scientific and technological development. The Belt and Road Initiative as well as the planning of the bay area covering Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau provide great opportunities for Chinese youths around the world to start up their own businesses and pursue better career development," said Wang Jiaqiong, president of UIBE.

Wang said, "As a quality platform for students to learn from each other and strengthen mutual cooperation, the training campus is believed to let the students know more about themselves and develop their potential to contribute to scientific and technological progress and social development."

UIBE is not the only university in the Chinese mainland to have the Bauhinia Valley Innovation and Development Center. Eleven other universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University and Renmin University of China all have established these centers in recent years.

Based on the advantages of these prestigious universities, the centers were established to provide innovation and entrepreneurship learning platforms for students around the world.
