Ex-Miss Nevada Back to Work in Sin City
It turns out that the publicized pictures of ex-Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees acting naughty were good for more than getting her kicked off the pageant podium. The disgraced beauty queen can now consider them audition photos.
Las Vegas promoter Jeff Beacher announced Friday that Rees has signed a $2 million-plus deal to host a revival of Beacher's Madhouse, a raucous lineup of comics, dancers and other sex-charged acts that has become a hot ticket for the celeb set, at the Joint nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
Rees will cohost—and preside over a female orgasm contest (paging Howard Stern)—with Beacher and regular emcee Pete Giovine when the monthly event returns Mar. 31 after an eight-month hiatus.
Rees is "a really cool girl, really fun. I've known her for awhile," Beacher told E! Online. "The Madhouse doesn't shy away from scandal at all.
"Our show is the edgiest, coolest show in Las Vegas—she just fit in perfectly. She's got great stage presence."
Beacher's Madhouse, which boasts signature acts such as Tiny KISS (yes, that means a band composed of little people made up like KISS), flamboyant hoop twirler Leonid the Magnificent and the scantily clad house dance troupe Beacher's Babies, plays host to a clientele that includes the Hilton sisters (Beacher was best man at Nicky's wedding to what's-his-name in 2004), Jack and Kelly Osbourne, Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey, Lindsay Lohan, Jon Bon Jovi, Quentin Tarantino, Wilmer Valderrama and Vince Neil.
Named Best Showman on the Strip by Rolling Stone last year, Beacher touts his show as "Cirque du Soleil meets Girls Gone Wild."
"With flash bulbs bursting, stilt-walkers, magicians, jugglers, sword throwers and freaks parade past your table, daring you to get involved," the show's Website teases.
It may have been the Cirque du Soleil part that appealed more to Rees, however, because, according to her agent, Randall Edwards, the 22-year-old has turned down offers to bare all from both Girls Gone Wild and Playboy.
Rees was crowned Miss Nevada USA 2007 in October and was gearing up to compete in the Miss USA pageant in March when photos showing her baring a breast, simulating oral sex and canoodling with a fellow female showed up on the Internet.
Donald Trump and his Miss Universe Organization colleagues, having spent their last bit of patience giving hard-partying Miss USA 2006 Tara Conner another chance to polish her image, stripped Rees of her crown a few days before Christmas.
But despite having her hopes for a national title dashed, Rees is ready to move past swimsuits and talent competitions.
“I'm looking forward to having fun at Nevada's hottest beauty pageant—Beacher's Madhouse,” she told Us Weekly.
