The Lamando, another locally-designed and manufactured four-door auto based on the New Midsize Coupe concept, has been launched at a price ranging between 145,900 yuan and 213,900 yuan ($23,860 to $34,980).

The vehicle was developed on Volkswagen's MQB platform, shared by the Golf 7 and Skoda's Octavia.

As Shanghai VW's first MQB model, the Lamando is wider and lower than sedans with a width of 1,826 mm, 1,425 mm height and 4,598 mm length.

It is equipped with independent suspension, smart start-stop and has lower seats, a 40 percent larger two-way open moon-roof and a 480-liter trunk.

Lamando's seven versions are powered by 230 TSI, 280TSI or 330TSI powertrains, with 1.4-liter or 1.8-liter gasoline engines and seven-speed DSG or a five-speed manual gearbox.
