Honeywell International Inc, the United States-based manufacturing and technology conglomerate, introduced its new generation water purifier - Aqua Touch 600, into the Chinese market.

Each Aqua Touch 600 filter has 1,000 days of life in its service cycle. The Aqua Touch has a simplified design and function, which means consumers can exchange them at home instead of having maintenance professionals make regular visits to install the new filter.

Besides providing high-quality drinking water to consumer homes, it can also be set with a holiday operation model to save energy and prevent bacteria from breeding when no one is at home.

Ma Rongjun, vice-president and general manager of Honeywell Smart Home, said the company aims to seize long-term market share among China's fast-growing middle-class consumers who have surging demand for greener and higher-end products in their homes.

Less than 7 percent of Chinese families use water-purification facilities at home, compared to 70 percent in developed countries in Asia and 90 percent of European and American homes, according to a report released in May by Beijing-based Institute of Industrial Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. As China's urbanization rate has reached 55 percent and with 1 percent annual growth expected, Honeywell will also deploy more resources in China's air purifier market to further cut the negative impact caused by formaldehyde and PM 2.5 to create a cleaner indoor environment.

In the last 10 years Honeywell has already brought in full research and development capability and full manufacturing capability to China, to manufacture for China and the global market. It has more than 12,000 employees working at different business branches and plants in over 20 Chinese cities.
