"The CIIE builds an efficient bridge for global enterprises to take part in Shanghai's urban renewal," Chen Zhichao, CEO of Tishman Speyer China, said. The group will apply its global industrial heritage revitalization expertise to the former continuous casting plant project in Wusong innovation city, integrating offices, talent apartments, and experiential commerce into a mixed-use work-live complex.
"We hope to work with Baoshan to create a globally replicable benchmark for sustainable urban renewal," Chen added.
On the industrial front, Baoshan launched two 100-billion-yuan clusters in high-end new materials and robotics and high-end equipment, along with 10 niche tracks covering frontier fields such as solid-state batteries and artificial intelligence to foster new quality productive forces.
University-local cooperation is fueling innovation momentum, with over 60 Fudan University spin-offs already operating in the district, speeding up the commercialization of research outcomes.
