A series of activities focusing on premium products and international features will be launched in Shanghai, leveraging the city's role as an international consumption center, according to the Shopping in China·2026 Premium Consumption Month and Shanghai CIIE Consumption Carnival unveiled on Friday.
The activities, including product debuts, global cuisine, and cross-border e-commerce, will bring together companies attending the ongoing 9th China International Import Expo, large domestic commercial enterprises, and firms in smart products and service consumption.
The month-long event is expected to broaden the influence of the CIIE and unleash momentum in the city building itself into an international consumption hub.
For the first time, seven self-service tax refund machines were put up at the CIIE core venue, along with six tax refund locations. They will work together with the more than 2,800 departure tax refund stores across the city to better facilitate the inbound consumption experience.
