Robots and digital twins of cities offer a glimpse of how AI could move from the virtual world into the physical one, Antonino Emanuele Scurria, a 2026 World Internet Conference (WIC) Global Youth Leader, said in an interview during the 2026 WIC Wuzhen Summit.
Scurria, a PhD student at Universite Libre de Bruxelles who studies AI and theoretical physics, said the pace of AI development over the past two years has surprised him. He pointed to tasks people now use AI for, from writing code and creating videos to solving mathematical problems.
Scurria said gatherings like the WIC give people a place to discuss where these technologies are heading and what that means for the future they share.
