AI can translate a word, but not the culture that lies behind it. That was the point Elena Avramidou, a professor at Ionian University and executive director of its Hellenic Sinology Center, made at the Forum on Digital Preservation and Transmission of Cultural Heritage on Nov 4, during the 2026 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit.
AI is a very important tool, she added, but it cannot replace humans, because it cannot replace human sensitivity, emotion or creativity. The question, she said, is how people can learn to use it well.
