Founded in Silicon Valley in 1969 and headquartered in Santa Clara, California, the United States, AMD is a global semiconductor leader. Drawing on its expertise in CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, adaptive system-on-chips (SoCs), DPUs and software, the company provides high-performance and adaptive computing solutions for cloud, edge and end-user devices.

China is a key market in AMD's global strategy. Established in 2004, AMD Greater China is headquartered in Beijing and has an R&D team of more than 4,000 engineers across Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Taipei.

In fiscal 2025, AMD invested $8.091 billion in R&D, up 25 percent year-on-year and accounting for approximately 23 percent of its annual revenue. The company also continued to pursue strategic investments, acquisitions and technology integration, strengthening its end-to-end AI capabilities across chips, systems and software ecosystems.

In 2025, AMD ranked 167th on the Fortune 500 list of the largest US companies and was named one of Fortune's World's Most Admired Companies. In 2024, it was included in TIME's list of the 100 Most Influential Companies.

Building an open-source ecosystem

AMD ROCm is a leading open-source software platform for AI. More than 2.1 million models on major open-source AI platforms worldwide can now run directly on ROCm. In early 2026, the platform introduced simultaneous support for Windows and Linux, extending its reach across cloud and end-user computing.

AMD Developer Cloud provides computing resources to developers worldwide. In July 2025, AMD helped establish China's first ROCm laboratory in Nanjing, Jiangsu province.

AMD has also joined nearly 100 partners in developing UALink, an open industry standard for connecting AI accelerators in data centers. The technology has been recommended to China's Open Data Center Committee. The company continues to drive collaborative innovation with partners including Meta, Microsoft, DeepSeek and Alibaba Cloud.
