Wu placed craftsmanship on a longer timeline. "Behind craftsmanship lies the long-term — patience and cultivation. It is not just about making a trunk or embroidering a flower, but an attitude of earnestly experiencing the journey of life," he said. The essence of showcasing craftsmanship, he added, is not a one-way transmission of skills but "sharing the civilization created by all of humanity". The more technology advances, the more enduring the long-term remains.
Emilie Morel Baude, who specializes in creating prototypes for Louis Vuitton, has 10 years of experience in leather goods. She demonstrates her craft aboard The Louis in Shanghai after the brand's Paris prototype workshop, which includes bag edge dyeing — the final, precision-critical step — where a single dye stain can ruin the whole piece.
"Every stage of the manufacturing process is important; being a perfectionist is not a virtue but a necessity," she says. "When the product is finished, the bag speaks for itself, and everyone can appreciate its quality."
Lyu Xufeng, a brand ambassador for Moet Hennessy Diageo China and a 2024 LVMH Virtuoso, has spent 26 years in the spirits industry, including 16 with the group. To him, craftsmanship lies in daily details — the wine level in a bottle, storage temperature, and the way a glass is served.
"Never underestimate the small, bit-by-bit efforts you make every day; over time, they become a river," he said.
