Intl students witness grassroots modernization in Dalian
Eighty international students from eight universities in Dalian, Liaoning province, got a firsthand look at how Chinese modernization is being practiced at the grassroots level during a field study in Jinpu New Area on Friday.
Themed "Experience China — Explore Dalian · Enduring Impressions of Jinpu", the event was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council and designed as a window for international youth to observe and understand China while promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
The itinerary covered four core research themes: rural revitalization, intangible cultural heritage, technological innovation and inclusive livelihood programs.
Students visited rice paddies and pink muhly grass fields in Shihe village, saw traditional shadow puppetry and handicraft workshops at Donggou Five Workshops, toured a hydrogen fuel cell production line at Guochuang Hydrogen Energy, and experienced smart elderly care services at Detai Yijinghui.
Zhao Jiali, deputy dean of DUFE's School of International Education, said the "Experience China — Explore Dalian" program, which was launched in 2016, has enabled more than 1,000 international students in Dalian to experience the real China through direct observation and personal experience.
