Shanghai conservation festival imagines man and nature living harmoniously
The 12th Shanghai International Nature Conservation Festival will take place for a week starting on Saturday, featuring over 1,000 science popularization activities and aiming to create an eco-science matrix that is accessible to all age groups, participatory, and characterized by international features.
The event will focus on two themes: technology for a better Yangtze River, and partnership for a better city. The themes highlight the geographical characteristics of Shanghai at the Yangtze River estuary, narrating the achievements of a decade of great protection efforts and showcasing the ecological management results at the confluence of river and sea.
Led by the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Shanghai Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau, the event also aligns with the goals of building a city for the people by integrating ecological protection concepts into the development of a megacity through technological innovation, aiming to create a livable city where humans and nature coexist harmoniously.
The more than 1,000 science popularization activities will take place in science venues, research institutes, primary and secondary schools, science popularization and environmental education bases, zoos, and botanical gardens. Activities will include science exhibitions, research studies, interactive markets, and ecological observations, inviting residents to engage in nature conservation practices.
