HONG KONG -- Hong Kong Ocean Park said on Tuesday that it will mark its 50th anniversary, which will fall in January 2027, with new animal conservation facilities, in-house campaigns and city-wide celebrations.

The park will unveil a new conservation center for marine mammals in January and a new giant panda pavilion in the third quarter next year.

It will also roll out campaigns featuring works of local artists to beckon more visitors.

The park will continue to enhance awareness of natural conservation in schools and bring nature closer to Hong Kong communities after 50 fruitful years of such pursuits, said Rosanna Law, secretary for culture, sports and tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government.

To help archive memories in the past half-century, all residents are encouraged to submit pictures and prose about the park by Dec 15.
