Green miracle: Inner Mongolia banner turns sandy land into oasis

In Horqin Right Wing Middle Banner, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, a green miracle is unfolding. Located on the northern edge of the Horqin Sandy Land, the banner is a key battlefield against desertification. Since 2018, it has afforested 29,160 hectares of land and planted 35,700 hectares of grass. Forest coverage has risen from 18.38 percent in 2022 to 19.36 percent currently, and grassland vegetation coverage has increased from 63.96 percent in 2020 to 76.38 percent in 2025. It has moved from "sand advancing, people retreating" to "no yellow sand across the region".
