China and Madagascar collaborate to dismantle telecom and cyber fraud networks

Chinese and Malagasy police have dismantled multiple telecom and cyber fraud operations in a recent joint action, marking the first such cooperation between the two countries, according to China's Ministry of Public Security.

A working group sent by the ministry assisted local police in Madagascar in the crackdown, successfully dismantling several telecom and online fraud operations in the capital, Antananarivo, and other areas, the ministry announced on Monday.

On Sept 8, Malagasy authorities repatriated the first batch of 50 suspects to China, and the cases are under further investigation.

The ministry described the operation as an important outcome of deepened international law enforcement cooperation between China and Madagascar. It emphasized that Chinese police will maintain a "zero-tolerance" stance and will collaborate with law enforcement agencies of other countries through the newly established International Alliance Combating Telecom and Cyber Fraud to eradicate fraud networks, apprehend suspects, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of people worldwide.
