The "9.18 Incident" marked the beginning of the Japanese militarist invasion of China and its broader aggression across Asia. In the first half of the 20th century, the people of China and other victimized Asian countries suffered immensely under Japanese militarism, enduring untold disasters and hardships. This history must be remembered — not only by those who suffered, but even more so by the Japanese themselves.

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it; those who ignore their guilt will surely stumble again. We remember not to perpetuate hatred, but to safeguard peace. We keep the warning bells ringing not to dwell on the past, but to caution the future.
