The "Zou You 2027SS · XING · RESONANCE" fashion show, jointly presented by the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and THIS IS YOUZ CLOTHING, recently opened at 79 Tank in Beijing's 798 Art District.
Created by Zou You, president of the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, the collection explores the relationship between movement, clothing and the body, reinterpreting traditional garment structures through contemporary design.
"Xing" refers not only to movement and action, but also to a state of being able to move forward. "Resonance" goes beyond the sound of fabric in motion, suggesting the traces left by people's gestures, ways of life and inner states over time.
For the collection, Zou and his design team drew inspiration from traditional clothing, including that of the Baiku Yao ethnic group. Zou says the group is particularly skilled at transforming flat pieces of fabric into lively, three-dimensional folds through changes in direction and structure.
"I'm always deeply moved by the people and culture I encounter when I travel for research," Zou says. "China is vast and rich in its traditions, and as a creator, I feel very small in comparison. To bring some of the best of Chinese culture to the world through China International Fashion Week is a responsibility."
The collection reflects Zou's long-standing focus on the human body as the starting point of design, while exploring how traditional elements can speak through a contemporary aesthetic.
