Democratic Progressive Party creating war panic on Taiwan: defense ministry

A spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense has denounced the Democratic Progressive Party authorities for creating war panic on Taiwan and undermining peace and safety on the island.

Chen Xi said during an online news briefing on Friday that the so-called "Han Kuang exercises" on Taiwan have always been a "pretentious and wasteful charade".

"This year, it further revealed Lai Ching-te's cowardly nature of pretending to defend while actually planning to flee," Chen said.

According to reports, during this year's "Han Kuang exercise", which took place from Aug 5 to 14, Lai rehearsed a "wartime escape" route. The reports also indicated that the island's military experienced incidents including tank parts detaching and aircraft skidding off the runway. Simulated communication slowdowns and periodic internet outages also caused public panic, according to the reports.

Chen condemned the DPP authorities for recklessly creating war panic, accelerating the transformation of cities into battlefields, pushing civilians to the front lines, and undermining peace and safety in Taiwan society.

He warned the DPP authorities that the deadlock of "Taiwan independence" separatism cannot succeed.

"The People's Liberation Army remains vigilant and continuously enhances its combat capabilities against separatism and interference, serving as a steadfast safeguard for national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait," Chen added.
