Chinese, Indonesian navies to conduct exercises in the waters east of Taiwan Island

The Chinese and Indonesian navies will conduct an exercise in waters east of Taiwan Island in mid-August, aiming to enhance joint operational capabilities and deepen practical cooperation between the two sides, according to an announcement by the Chinese Ministry of National Defense on Tuesday.

During the exercise, the Chinese Navy's guided-missile frigate Honghe will conduct drills with the Indonesian Navy's KRI John Lie frigate in the designated waters. The exercise will focus on training programs including communication operations and at-sea replenishment, according to information released by the ministry.

The drill is designed to improve coordination and cooperation between the two navies, enhance their joint operational capabilities, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability, the ministry said.
