Multiple alerts issued as heavy rain, geological disaster risks persist

The National Meteorological Center has issued an orange alert for heavy rain, a blue alert for severe convective weather and a blue typhoon alert at 10 am on Tuesday.

The heaviest rainfall is expected in parts of Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Hubei provinces, with some areas in Shandong and Henan potentially receiving 250 to 350 millimeters.

As of Tuesday morning, Typhoon Dolphin's center was located in Huanggang, Hubei province. The storm is forecast to move west-northwest at about 15 kilometers per hour while gradually weakening, the center said.

Despite weakening, its interaction with an upper-level trough is expected to maintain a broad area of heavy rainfall. Authorities have warned that the prolonged rain could raise the risk of flooding, waterlogging and geological disasters.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued an orange alert for meteorological risks of geological disasters on Tuesday.

Parts of southwestern Beijing, central Hebei, most of Zhejiang province, parts of Anhui and central Henan face relatively high risks of geological disasters.

Local governments and relevant departments have been urged to strengthen geological disaster prevention and follow emergency response plans.

People living near slopes, cliffs and waterways in areas under orange alerts have been urged to evacuate promptly to designated shelters.

The public are advised to remain alert as Typhoon Dolphin's impact continues, as the weakening of a tropical cyclone does not mean the end of its hazards.
