BRI project commended for outstanding CSR practices

A landmark China-Indonesia project under the Belt and Road Initiative has won three awards for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs.

Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) announced on Aug 6 that three of its CSR programs earned one silver and two bronze awards at the Indonesia Social Responsibility Awards (ISRA) 2026, spanning economic empowerment, healthcare and education.

Since its inception in 2013, IMIP has turned the region's abundant nickel reserves into a large integrated industrial cluster, creating nearly 100,000 direct jobs. With a planned land area of some 4,000 hectares and having attracted over 50 enterprises, IMIP has coordinated efforts to advance industrial development, green transformation, environmental governance, community development and public welfare investment.

The ISRA 2026 award ceremony, held in Surakarta, Central Java and organized by Prospectus Media, recognizes enterprises across seven categories, including economic empowerment, education, health quality improvement and biodiversity conservation, among others, for their achievements in social responsibility, environmental governance and sustainable development.
