Former Dongfang Electric board member under investigation
Song Zhiyuan, former deputy secretary of the Party leadership group and board member of China's Dongfang Electric Corporation, is under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision announced on Saturday.
Song is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervision investigation, according to the statement.
Publicly available information shows that Song, born in September 1964, graduated from a college in Zhengzhou, Henan province, that later became part of Henan University of Technology. He held various positions at China Grain Reserves Group, or Sinograin, starting in 2013 before transferring to Dongfang Electric Corporation.
In March 2025, he stepped down as a director and from other positions at Dongfang Electric Corporation after reaching the statutory retirement age.
Dongfang Electric Corporation, founded in 1958, is one of China's leading power equipment manufacturers, specializing in the research, development, manufacturing and servicing of large-scale power generation equipment.
