A total of 51 people have been confirmed dead and 10 remain missing after a landslide struck Hanjia subdistrict in Pengshui Miao and Tujia autonomous county, Chongqing, on July 17, the on-site rescue command said on Thursday night.

It was confirmed that 10 people were rescued, three of whom have since left hospital, while more than 1,100 residents were evacuated. The land search ended after 325 hours, but dredging and search operations continue in the Wujiang River.

More than 1,080 rescuers from 26 teams took part, using over 2,300 pieces of equipment. Authorities said work was shifting towards restoring services, supporting families and rebuilding affected areas.
