Three killed, three injured by falling tree in Guangxi

Three people were killed and three others injured when a large tree fell in a park in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Wednesday evening, China Newsweek reported⁠ on Thursday.

The incident occurred at People's Park in Bobai county, Yulin city. A staff member at the county government office said the three injured people were taken to Bobai County People's Hospital. None was in life-threatening condition.

The site was cleared on Wednesday night. Authorities in Bobai launched an urgent countywide safety inspection, while landscaping departments across Yulin began checking trees for potential hazards.

The government staff member said the area had experienced heavy rain and strong winds in recent days. The authorities have not said what caused the tree to fall.
