Senior CPC official stresses full implementation of Party's Xizang governance policies

LHASA -- Wang Huning, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has stressed the importance of fully implementing the CPC's policies on the governance of the Xizang autonomous region in the new era during a research tour in the region.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said during the four-day tour running until Wednesday that maintaining stability is the top priority in governing Xizang.

He said the governance of Xizang should reflect the Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law, which took effect on July 1, and called for continuous efforts to guide Tibetan Buddhism to adapt to the socialist society.

Wang also stressed stronger protection of historical documents and cultural relics in Xizang, and urged efforts to consolidate poverty alleviation achievements in the region and improve infrastructure to better meet the needs of local residents and businesses.
