Marking the fifth anniversary of the Coast Guard Law of the People's Republic of China, the country's first cross-regional large-scale coordinated coast guard vessel open day was launched in Tianjin last weekend.

Three core coast guard vessels — Lingshan, Liaowang, and Sanhe — berthed at Tianjin International Cruise Home Port and were opened to the public for the first time, offering residents a unique opportunity to observe modern maritime law enforcement equipment up close.

"I usually only know about the China Coast Guard through news reports. Visiting the vessels in person this time let me truly appreciate how arduous their work of safeguarding maritime rights and law enforcement at sea is," said Wang Jiaxin, a local resident.

During this vessel open day event, the Lingshan, a new-type coast guard law enforcement vessel independently designed and built by China, was showcased. It features long endurance, high seaworthiness, and three-dimensional operation capacity.

"The water cannon can aim in all directions with a long range, strong water pressure, and precise operation. It functions as both a law enforcement tool and a rescue firefighting apparatus," said Wang Xianglin, a coast guard officer.

Centered on maritime legal promotion, equipment display, and interactive experience, the Tianjin vessel open day integrated maritime defense popularization and team image publicity.

"We should explain key legal points in plain language and through tangible cases accessible to the public to raise people's awareness of the rule of law," said Liu Junyue, an official from the China Coast Guard.

At the event site, coast guard officers combined real-world maritime governance practices to focus on explaining their statutory duties, including safeguarding maritime rights and enforcing maritime laws.

"We will guide the general public to better understand, care for, and protect the ocean, and win greater understanding and support for coast guard work from all sectors of society," Liu added.

Tianjin, together with Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Haikou, hosted simultaneous events covering the Bohai and Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea, which boast remarkable demonstration and international communication value for maritime legal publicity.
