The gala reflected Tan's boundary-pushing spirit. Audiences witnessed Cuban, Russian, British, Australian, and Chinese dancers interpreting everything from the tragic entanglements in the dance theater adaptation of "Thunderstorm" to the fiery Latin piece "Blaze," and Zhang Han's poetic Chinese dance piece inspired by the hit production "Poetic Dance: The Journey of a Legendary Landscape Painting."
On Friday night, Tan performed with Li Jiabo in the iconic "White Swan Pas de Deux," which launched her career, alongside a newly created modern ballet piece inspired by the music of John Williams.
