Two officials under investigation after fatal North China coal mine explosion

TAIYUAN -- Two officials in charge of mine safety oversight in North China's Shanxi province are under investigation on suspicion of severe violations of law in connection with a deadly coal mine gas explosion, authorities said on Saturday.
Hu Huisong and Yu Zhangqing, both from the Shanxi bureau of the National Mine Safety Administration, are currently under investigation by the Shanxi provincial supervisory commission.
The gas explosion, which occurred on May 22 at the Liushenyu coal mine in Qinyuan county of the city of Changzhi in Shanxi, resulted in heavy casualties.
