Surveillance footage recently captured a rare sighting of a family of three Skywalker hoolock gibbons at the Gaoligongshan National Nature Reserve in Baoshan, Yunnan province.

In the footage, a dark brown male gibbon is seen standing on a branch with his back to the camera, gripping a tree trunk with both arms. Moments later, a light brown female gibbon gracefully leaps into view, carrying an infant in her arms. The newborn clings securely to its mother's waist with all four limbs, its small body nestled snugly against her.

This remarkable sighting suggests that the endangered species has added a new member to its ranks. According to local authorities, fewer than 200 of these gibbons remain in the wild in China.
