French luxury fashion house Hermès has unveiled an exhibition at its Beijing Sanlitun store showcasing its latest timepieces, including three new creations first introduced at the Watches and Wonders Geneva exhibition in April.
Designed by artist Jean Simon Roch, the exhibition invites visitors into the heart of movement, where watchmaking unfolds like theater. Blending stage wings and animated mechanics, a tall wooden structure greets visitors, appearing to weave the threads of time.
Its open-worked architecture draws the eye behind the scenes, echoing the intricate design of skeleton watches. A series of displays, styled as miniature theater, presents the latest watch creations alongside the three unveiled in Geneva: Hermès H08 Squelette, Arceau Samarcande and Slim d'Hermès Squelette Lune. Each piece offers a glimpse into the intricate mechanisms within, opening a window onto the hidden world of time.
The Hermès H08 watch continues the collection's signature interplay of round and square, while revealing the craftsmanship behind its mechanical movement.
The Arceau Samarcande showcases the new H1927 skeletonized self-winding mechanical movement, a custom-made caliber designed and produced exclusively for Hermès.
The open-worked cover of Slim d'Hermès Pocket Roaaaaar!, features a roaring lion that appears to walk straight from the savannah. Inspired by a silk scarf by British artist Alice Shirley, the Roaaaaar! motif is reinterpreted in wood marquetry, capturing the lion's profile in remarkable detail.
