Former Xinjiang vice-chairman investigated for serious Party violations

Zhu Changjie, former vice-chairman of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, is under investigation for alleged serious violations of Party discipline and national laws, China's top anti-corruption bodies said on Saturday.

The announcement was made online by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Commission of Supervision. However, no further details were provided.

Zhu, 69, was born in Dongming county, Heze, Shandong province. He majored in agronomy and joined the Communist Party of China in 1985.

He began his career in 1976 and progressed through various local government posts in Xinjiang, including in the Bayingolin Mongol autonomous prefecture and Aksu prefecture. From 2009 to 2017, he headed Xinjiang's regional public security department, and from 2011 to 2018, he also served as vice-chairman of the Xinjiang regional government.
