BEIJING -- A mainland spokesman on Wednesday said that what Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party authorities seek to maintain is merely an illusory separatist status quo.
Noting that there is but one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China, Chen Binhua, a spokesman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said this is an indisputable historical and legal fact.
"It constitutes the true status quo of the Taiwan Strait."
