On March 7, author Wang Shiyue presented a special lecture on his novel, For you, Day and Night. The result of 15 years of creative labor, the novel chronicles the survival and struggles of a common youth, Wang Duanwu, in Guangdong. Wang shared his unique insights into his protagonists, describing them as microcosms of the masses and paying tribute to all strivers who have failed but refuse to concede.

Reflecting on his first time sharing his work in Hong Kong, Wang noted the deep cultural bond of the 1970s generation who grew up on Cantopop and Hong Kong movies, stating that the book captures a collective memory that resonates deeply with local readers.

The 25th HKILF featured over 60 events, marking the first time the festival officially collaborated with a Chinese mainland publisher to host Chinese mainland authors. This milestone has opened a new chapter for literary integration and dialogue within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Laura Mannering, executive director of the HKILF, expressed her anticipation for more Chinese mainland writers to visit, allowing readers in Hong Kong and overseas to experience the diverse textures and contemporary echoes of Chinese literature.
