Hermès unveils 2026 Spring-Summer collection in Shanghai
French luxury brand Hermès launched its 2026 Spring-Summer collection at Hermès Maison Shanghai on Wednesday, as anticipation builds for the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse. Rooted in equestrian motifs, the collection echoes the zodiac theme while reaffirming the brand's heritage which dates back to its origins as a Parisian harness workshop in 1837.
The presentation highlighted Hermes' enduring connection to the world of horses, translating functional equestrian elements into this season's designs. The Bride de jour bag features a horse-collar-style opening with D-rings and spring hooks inspired by horse bits. The Haut à Courroies bag, presented with Fast Poudré print, captures the dynamic moment of riders and horses leaping in unison, restoring its original purpose as a rider-specific bag.
Equestrian influences extend beyond leather goods to accessories, beauty products, and home collections.
The Grand Galop silk twill scarf depicts a vibrant equestrian scene, while the Le Pommier sellier silk twill scarf offers a more whimsical interpretation, depicting an artistic apple tree balanced on a horse's back. In beauty, the Poudre Rocabar, horse limited-edition face powder, replicates the horse image drawn from the classic 1920s Rocabar pattern. For the home, the Les Six Pas du cheval printed throw incorporates geometric patterns inspired by horseshoes. The Badines collection further showcases Hermès' leather-weaving expertise, underscoring the meticulous craftsmanship that has long defined the brand.
By revisiting its classic equestrian codes while aligning with the symbolism of the Year of the Horse, the collection offers pieces that blend practicality, artistry and cultural resonance.
