Tianjin hosts Experience Tianjin international cultural exchange event

The 2025 Tianjin Impressions of Expats & 2026 Outlook Exchange was held in Tianjin on December 5. Foreign residents from SCO member states and various regions around the world, along with university faculty, students, and enterprise representatives, gathered for cross-cultural dialogue and to envision new cooperation for 2026, maintaining the "Shanghai Spirit" through people-to-people exchange.

The Highlight Moments Sharing session was the event's centerpiece . Foreign resident Peter Mecoy shared his memorable experiences of the SCO spirit during his time in Tianjin.

Wang Hailing, deputy editor-in-chief of the Tianjin Yangliuqing Painting Society, discussed the craftsmanship behind SCO-themed gifts, including the media kit that took over five months to design and produce.

Huang Keying, a teacher from Luban Workshop, shared uplifting stories from 2025 about the workshop's upgrades.

Zhang Lijun, a host from Tianjin Haihe Media Center, offered insights from a media perspective, highlighting details captured during her summit interviews. During the interactive session, participants wrote their hopes and expectations for 2026 on customized postcards. A Luban Workshop student shared personal growth experience from studying in Tianjin in 2025, and an international faculty member from Tianjin University recounted cultural experiences from the “Experience Tianjin” series of activities.

Guests chatted freely as different languages intertwined and diverse cultures met. Tianjin continues to embrace openness and inclusiveness, building bridges for dialogue between China and the world. In 2026, this city—rooted in 622 years of history and entrusted with a new-era mission—will continue to write a remarkable chapter of international cooperation and cultural exchange.
