Defense leaders from over 100 countries, including Russia, France and Brazil, have confirmed their attendance for the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which is scheduled to kick off next week, a defense spokesman said on Wednesday.

Preparations for the high-level global security conference have been finalized, Defense Ministry spokesman Jiang Bin confirmed at an online news conference.

"To date, defense and military leaders from over 100 countries, including Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, France, Nigeria and Brazil, as well as representatives from international and regional organizations, have confirmed their attendance," he said.

"The forum will feature wider representation with delegates from more countries, further reflecting its commitment to inclusiveness and openness," said Jiang.

The 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum will be held in Beijing from Sept 17 to 19.

This year's forum will include four plenary sessions and eight sub-sessions, focusing on global security governance, Asia-Pacific security cooperation, safeguarding international order, and building regional peace, according to the spokesman.

In addition, a series of academic activities will be held, focusing on the contemporary significance of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.

"These activities are aimed to call on countries to jointly safeguard the victorious outcomes of the World Anti-Fascist War and the post-war international order, and explore effective ways to resolve conflicts," said Jiang.

The event will also inject more stability and positive energy into the turbulent and changing world and strive for a brighter future for humanity, he said.
