Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre unveils new season


Shanghai Poly Grand Theatre released on Aug 27 its new performance schedule in celebration of its 11th birthday.
Twenty-two productions will present altogether 35 shows in the new season at the theater in Jiading district of Shanghai.
The theater plans a series of special concerts in commemoration for the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Starting from a concert by vocal artists from the China National Opera House on Sept 20, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan will perform on Oct 21, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia on Dec 28.

The Musical Stars Gala Concert will take place from Nov 21-23, when five West End and Broadway actors: Nic Rouleau, Kelly Mathieson, Ben Crawford, Aimie Atkinson, and Andrea Macasaet will present highlights from The Phantom of the Opera, Six, Les Miserables, etc.
One of the most anticipated productions is The Stage, a long-running play directed and led by veteran comedian Chen Peisi. It will be presented from Dec 25-28.
The dance theater production Peony Pavilion, jointly created by dancer and choreographer Li Xing and director Huang Jiayuan, will make its Shanghai premiere at the theater on Jan 2-4.
