Children's theater festival opens

The 2025 Grand Canal Children Theater Festival opened on Saturday at the Mumu Theater in Tongzhou district, Beijing.
On the opening day, the Spanish multimedia interactive play Drag Drag-E was performed. The play tells a fantastical adventure, where natural science knowledge is shared with the audience. The rich multimedia effects were both fun and visually appealing, with cheerful and catchy music, as well as interactive moments that had the children cheering with joy.
From Saturday to Aug 31, children plays will be staged at the theater, including Magic 3D Book Theater: The Little Magician, which will start running from July 5, and Peking Opera production for children, The Transformation of Zhu Bajie, which will start performances on July 26.
In addition to the performances, there will be more activities available for children and parents, with workshops highlighting Peking Opera and intangible cultural heritage items.
Now in its second year, the festival is organized by Beijing-headquartered Star Theaters.
