The minimalist beauty of classic Chinese paintings is celebrated in many aspects including how painters used arrays of neat lines to deliver the expansiveness and majestic feeling. One can find fine examples in the works of Dai Jin who lived during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Song Mingyuan has committed to carrying on this tradition in the classic style. His painting exhibition at the gallery of People's Fine Arts Publishing House in Beijing shows works in which he has endeavored to enrich the techniques of Chinese painting through an even more abstract approach and large expanses of color shading.
An album that summarizes his styles and approaches to shading in the depiction of waters was recently published.
