On Sunday, in celebration of Mother's Day, the Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater released the song Mom's Peachwood Comb, performed by young soprano Huang Shuang. With its heartfelt melody and sincere emotions, the piece pays tribute to mothers who have selflessly raised their daughters.

The song uses a peachwood comb as a symbol, telling the story of three generations of Chinese women. The lyrics poetically convey the beautiful inheritance of love, respect, and familial bonds, capturing the essence of traditional Chinese values such as filial piety, love, and the nurturing of future generations.

Written by Ying Yihang and composed by An Jianhua, the inspiration for the song came to Ying during a visit to West Lake in Hangzhou. While walking along the street, he witnessed a heartwarming scene: three generations of women resting on a bench beneath the willow trees. A middle-aged woman gently took a reddish, aged peachwood comb from her bag and lovingly combed her mother's slightly disheveled white hair. In that quiet, tender moment, the daughter beside her smiled as she watched her mother tend to her grandmother's hair. This scene evoked a deep sense of love and tenderness in Ying, reminding him of the powerful bond between generations of women.

Huang's voice breathes life into the piece, creating a deep emotional resonance that draws listeners into a shared experience of maternal love.
