Massive Guang'an Jianchuan Museum Cluster opens in Sichuan

The Guang'an Jianchuan Museum Cluster officially opened on Tuesday in Xiexing township, Guang'an, Sichuan province, showcasing over 100,000 exhibits, including comic books, pagers, and vintage textbooks.

Jointly developed by Guang'an city and the Jianchuan Museum of Sichuan, the cluster features 10 themed exhibition halls spanning 33,000 square meters. It is said to be one of the largest village museum clusters in China.

Visitor Li Mao said he was moved by the lifelike recreations of historical school scenes in the textbook museum, feeling as though he was stepping back in time.

The museum displays 426 cultural relics and 22,000 textbooks tracing China's educational evolution from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to modern times.

"These textbooks are witnesses to educational reform," he said. "Every yellowed page carries the collective memory of building a strong nation through education."

The comic museum houses over 1,000 comic books and offers visitors an in-depth exploration of the art form's origins, evolution, and artistic styles.

Liu Boqing, the cluster's director, said the museum incorporates modern technology to enhance visitors' experience, including smart drawing platforms and an interactive comic generation device.

The cluster also has a 9D cinema, where a giant dome screen, suspended motion seats, and cutting-edge AR and VR technologies create a fully immersive experience.

Guang'an's culture and tourism authorities said the city will integrate the cluster with study tours, performances, and creative industries, transforming "museum fever" into long-term cultural tourism growth while showcasing the city's image.
