Annual theater exhibition to play in Beijing and Leshan


In May, the National Theatre of China's play The Yellow Storm, directed by Tian, will open the Leshan event.
Adapted from Lao She's novel, Four Generations Under One Roof, it follows the story of the different generations of Beijing residents living in a courtyard home during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). One of Lao She's most celebrated novels, it is a detailed portrayal of traditional family life and the clash with modernity and war.
Since its premiere in 2010, the play has been performed more than 300 times around the country.

Other performances during the Leshan event include Aquatique, a physical theater production directed and written by Zhao Miao, and My Half of Life, a play adapted from a novel by Lao She and written and directed by Huang Ying. Leshan will also host six screenings of three productions from the National Theatre of China.
Artists from the national theater will also engage with the campus and community in Leshan, through a series of training and professional guidance sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to fully experience the beauty of the dramatic arts, enhance their acting skills, and illustrate their abilities through a performance presentation.
According to Hao Rong, president of the Central Academy of Drama, this year's exhibition includes a special section for university students, to help them will learn about drama through a series programs.
