Fudan Art Institute celebrates its official opening


The Fudan Art Institute celebrated its official opening on Dec 8 and will focus on the study and research in interpreting and constructing the discourse system of traditional Chinese art, re-understanding and interpreting the cultural structure of Western modern art, and promoting the creation and integration of art and cutting-edge science.
In the next three to five years, the institute will offer more than 20 special courses for the whole university, covering art philosophy, aesthetics, art theory, art criticism, Chinese art history, foreign art history, art communication, exhibition design and other fields. Doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows will be recruited.
The new institute is supported by the School of Philosophy of Fudan University. Pan Gongkai, a renowned artist and art educator, serves as the first dean, and Shen Yubing, a famous scholar, serves as the executive dean.
The institute is also collaborating with art institutions such as Shanghai Museum, Power Station of Art, Fosun Foundation and so on to cultivate talents in art theory, curation, and museum design.
