A major clothing conference, attracting 700 representatives of the sector, was held in Dongguan, Guangdong province.

The 2024 Global Apparel Conference opened in Humen, Dongguan, gathered industry associations, overseas organizations, experts, scholars, designers, and entrepreneurs from 20 countries and regions, such as China, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, and India. The meeting hoped to strengthen global fashion partnerships.

The conference was hosted by the China National Textile and Apparel Council, with support from organizations such as the China Fashion Association, China Color Association. Dongguan's textile, apparel, footwear, and headwear industries. These are traditional and strategic pillars of the local economy, reflecting the city's extensive reform and opening-up.

Humen's fashion industry, in particular, is the first regional brand in China's apparel industry to reach a value exceeding100 billion yuan ($13.8 billion).

Currently, both domestic and international fashion markets are undergoing significant transformations. Domestic consumption is rapidly upgrading, international markets are swiftly adjusting, and technological innovations are being swiftly applied. New business models such as live-streaming e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce are evolving quickly.

Pascal Morand, Executive Chairman of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, sent a congratulatory message, highlighting that this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. He noted that the two countries have long been closely connected in the fashion industry and have collaborated extensively in fashion creativity, culture, and economics. The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode organizes major events like Paris Fashion Week, where many young Chinese brands have been featured, laying a foundation for industry communication and cooperation.

Several internationally renowned designers including Brendan Mullane, who worked with fashion houses Givenchy, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Alexander McQueen, as well as Albino D'Amat, who worked with Max Mara and Brioni. Japanese designer Yuima Nakazato, known for his avant-garde and innovative approach to fashion, attended the conference, sharing his perspectives on defining the role and value of design, promoting brand heritage and innovation.
