The Hong Kong Repertory Theatre staged its play Ambiguous at Beijing's Tianqiao Performing Arts Center on Oct 18 and 19.

Playwright Matthew Cheng's celebrated piece is about stay-at-home husband Chan Chi Yung and housewife Wang Xia. They meet in a chance encounter outside a kindergarten where, every day, they enjoy casual chats and a faintly discernible yet ambiguous relationship develops.

Ambiguous premiered in 2021 to tremendous acclaim. With director Fong Chun-kit and cast members including Lau Shau-ching, Yiyi Zhao, Mercy Wong and Chow Wai-keung, it was among the selected productions shown in cinemas not only in Hong Kong but also in Beijing, Guilin in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and Shenzhen in Guangdong province last year.
