Gas explosion in Nanyang High-Tech Zone injures 20

A gas explosion occurred in the Nanyang High-Tech Zone of Henan province, injuring 20 people.
According to a notice from the zone's Administrative Committee, the blast happened at 12:47 pm on Wednesday at a shop in the Zhaoying community.
Public security, fire fighting, urban management, health and emergency management departments rushed to the scene for rescue and response.
The injuries ranged from minor to serious, and all of the injured were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.
Seven people have returned home after outpatient treatment, while the others are receiving medical care.
Preliminary on-site investigations indicate that the explosion was caused by damage to a gas pipeline during maintenance work on the community's water pipes, leading to a gas leak and subsequent flash explosion.
The specific cause of the accident is under further investigation.
