Nearly 100 flights were canceled at the Beijing Capital International Airport on Wednesday due to Tuesday night's snowfall in the city, the airport said on Wednesday.

The airport planned to operate 1,216 flights on Wednesday, while 97 have been canceled.

It activated its emergency response mechanism on Wednesday morning to dispatch 220 staff members and 69 snow-removal vehicles to deice aircraft and clear snow on the taxiways, aiming to minimize the impact of the snowfall on flight operations.

Meanwhile, the Beijing Daxing International Airport, which planned to operate 886 flights on Wednesday, set up an on-site command center in the morning to conduct joint command operations to ensure efficient deicing of the aircraft and snow clearance on the apron, where the planes are parked. As of 12 pm, 157 flights have departed the airport.

The airport is carrying out aircraft deicing and clearing snow on the apron and roads to ensure smooth and orderly operations.
