Floor collapses at Henan supermarket; 2 hurt
Two customers at a new supermarket received minor injuries on Sunday when they fell into a hole in the floor that collapsed beneath their feet in Jiyuan, Henan province. Jimu News, a news portal of Chutian Metropolis Daily in Hubei province, reported the incident.
A video showed a 1-meter-deep hole into which ceramic tiles, broken shelves and various goods had fallen. It appeared to lead into a channel of some sort, with brick walls on both sides and a prefabricated board covering the top.
The supermarket had opened for business on Saturday, but the scene was sealed off after the collapse.
The city's housing and urban-rural development bureau will investigate the cause, Jimu News reported.
After the collapse, firefighters, residents and staff from government offices came to assist.
